Modern Family Star Shocks Many By Revealing She Wore Hair Extensions!

by Melissa L. White

Sara Hyland, who plays Haley on Modern Family, surprised many by revealing that she has actually been wearing hair extensions! Followers of the star did not suspect until she had her hair extensions removed and posted Instagram pics sporting a trendy lob.

The fact that so many did not even realize that she wore hair extensions just reinforces the fact that, if applied well, hair extensions can be undetectable to others.

We've all seen examples of hair extensions that have been poorly installed, or where the quality of hair is bad. Different types of installation methods have been tried over the years in an effort to simplify the process, but the fact is that professional hair extensions by leaders in the field such as Great Lengths and HairDreams just can't be beat for quality, longevity, and super looks.

However, the star is reported to admit that she does not plan to wear short hair for long, captioning in the photo below, "Last week I got my extensions out!! It's lob time!...For a week."

Once you've had quality hair extensions installed, it's difficult to imagine not having them. Apparently, Sarah Hyland feels the same, and she certainly is not alone.

Total Transformation: Miley Cyrus Sports Hair Extensions for Magazine Cover

by

Miley Cyrus is in the news again. This time it's for her provocative photo on "W" magazine's March 2014 cover.

Amazingly enough, it's not Miley's nudity which is getting the attention, it's actually her blond hair extensions! Totally transforming her looks, Miley is almost unrecognizable.

Certainly one of the benefits of quality human hair extensions is the fact that quality hair extensions can totally change your look - sometimes with amazing results. Much like the investment in a pair of high quality shoes or designer handbag, hair extensions can define a totally new look for you. It's a true testament of the power of hair extensions as a beauty and fashion accessory. And, contrary to what many believe, under the hands of an experienced hair extension artist, it is possible to obtain great results even on women with short hair like Miley Cyrus.

San Antonio hair extension stylist Melissa White explains, "Working with short hair is a challenge, but it is one I enjoy. Many of the women I work with suffer from thinning or damaged hair. For some, it means that their hair has broken and is much shorter than desired. Placement of the extensions is critical for short hair applications and experience makes all the difference in whether you see the obvious line of hair extensions or whether they blend in with your own hair and create a beautiful, natural look."

Complicating things for women wanting hair extensions is the fact that not all hair extensions are the same. There are varying degrees of hair quality, type of bonds used, and even the type of hair can be quite different. Some manufacturers have selections that include finer hair which is less heavy and appropriate for some with thinning or damaged hair, while others have coarser hair. It is extremely important to get the best match for the type of hair you have. Many salons use hair from only one company, such as only Great Lengths, only Hairdreams, or only So.Cap. A few select the hair based on what is best for their client.

  • Ask to see before-after photos demonstrating work on hair similar to yours.
  • Ask how long your stylist has been working with hair extensions or how many they've done.
  • Find out how many hair extension manufacturers they work with, or is their salon bound by contract to only one?
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions and point out things you're concerned about. Your hair extension stylist should be able to provide detailed answers without vague reassurances.
  • If you have short hair, ask how many people they've worked with and see the results.
  • If you have thinning hair, find out if they use different hair, or if they have experience working with thinning or balding hair.

I've been wowed with some of the results I've seen. If you suffer from thinning or damaged hair, consider seeking out the services of a professional stylist who is experienced with clients who have the same hair difficulties as you do. Your stylist should be able to provide before-after photos demonstrating their skills, be willing to discuss the best options for hair selection and placement, and to provide you with the proper home care instructions suited to your special hair care needs at a minimum.

Spring 2013 fashion photos are full of celebrities wearing hair extensions. Just released is a brand new look for Emma Watson as she readied for a cover photo shoot for GQ magazine.

The extremely popular 22 year old Harry Potter actress has transformed herself with an entirely new look that will no-doubt have fashion-followers talking for weeks to come. While many of the Hollywood A Listers have recently updated their hair extensions with pastel colors, ombre' highlights or bright wild colors, others remain conservative with their looks, preferring to simply add fullness and length to change up their look.

As celebrities have discovered, hair extensions are a quick and effective way to change your look instantly. Applied correctly, they can also be a savior for women with balding or thinning hair, hair that is too short from medical treatments or which simply won't grow, or those who have fine hair that won't support some of today's hot hair styles.

Here in San Antonio, Texas, hair extensions are becoming more popular than ever as women who have tried clip-in extensions and hair pieces have grown tired of the time-consuming attachment process and the stress they place on the hair. The benefits of hair extensions are many, and an experienced stylist can tailor the extensions to suit your specific needs and wishes.

Celebrities Talk Openly About Using Hair Extensions And Even Flaunt Using Them

by Melissa L. White

You may have seen the headlines a few weeks ago when Kelly Ripa took off the hair extensions she was wearing that day - all while on-air! She later revealed that her hair extension stylist's bonding equipment broke as he was preparing to reinstall her hair extensions, so he had given her temporary extensions to wear until they could rebook the appointment. The stir it created was unexpected and memorable for many viewers that day, and brought the subject of hair extensions into mainstream America due to the popularity of her morning television show.

Also in the news has been Rihanna, who earlier this month had new hair extensions installed to instantly change her looks, giving her a beautiful long ombre' hairstyle. While Rihanna has worn hair extensions many times in the past, she is also known for changing her styles frequently, and she always seems to create quite a stir when she does. This was evident with today's photos of her sporting a short pixie once again. She is certainly one who loves her hair extensions and the flexibility they give her!

Ten years ago, Hollywood stars and other celebrities kept their fashion secrets quite close to the chest. But in more recent years, they're much more open about what they wear and products they use. Even cosmetic plastic surgeries are no longer taboo. And hair extensions are something that is being talked about all the time. Stars are not afraid to go from a short bob one day to long luxurious locks the next, and they're even going out of their way to show them off and talk about the hair extensions they use.

This trend has also spread into everyday America. Women in the workplace are less afraid to try new styles, colors and even hair extensions as a way of putting their best foot forward and making a statement. Just as hair extensions are seen as accessories to women in Hollywood, they are gaining popularity as fashion accessories to women from all walks of life in everyday life. Hair extensions in San Antonio are growing in popularity as they are all across the country.

You don't have to be a movie star to see the benefits of using quality hair extensions to boost your spirits and give you a look you love! Hair extensions can give confidence to those who have medical conditions which cause balding, thinning hair or short hair. They can provide more length and fullness, or create an entirely new look. The reasons women get hair extensions are many, but the thing they all share in common is the love of them once they try them.

Top Stylists View Hair Extensions As An Important and Versatile Accessory

by Melissa White

Just as some women see the importance of great jewelry, a terrific handbag, or stylish shoes, many are coming to realize that their hair is one of their very best and most flexible of accessories! In times where styles change quicker than you can rush to the store to buy the latest, being gifted with hair that can easily be transformed is one of the best fashion investments you can make.

Hair Extensions can be
your very best accessory!
It's certainly not uncommon for fashion-conscious women to drop hundreds on a designer bag that brings instant recognition and envy from her friends, and almost all women drop more money than they're willing to tally up on shoes, jewelry and other trendy items that are in style one day and sadly out of style before the shoe treads show wear! However, talented hair stylists know the value of a great head of hair. Even though hair styles may change, having full, luxurious looking hair can set you apart whether you're wearing sweats, jeans or a designer outfit.

I often describe the benefit of investing in quality hair extensions in terms most of my clients can easily relate to. Think of your eyes. For those of us who have eye sight which is less than perfect, we usually invest in eye glasses which we'll wear around the house, but opt for more expensive and higher maintenance contact lens when we're at work or out socially. And, we certainly know the drawbacks of having to use them. Each and every day it involves having to rinse off and insert the lenses, sometimes adjusting and/or rinsing them during the day because of dry eye or irritation from a particle, eyelash or other irritant, and then having to take them out at night - only to have to repeat the process each and every day. What we're in search of is a better alternative to the daily grind, and this is why many people are opting for lasik eye surgery. The results are much more permanent, and you don't have the daily upkeep. Just roll out of bed and you're vision is already there!

The same can be said when you have quality hair extensions. Everyone wants healthy, shiny, gorgeous hair, and you no longer have to settle for the hair you were born with. The choices are basically to stick with the hair you have (whether it is too thin, too short, too unmanageable, etc), use wigs, hair pieces or clip-on extensions - all of which require the same type of daily grind in order to achieve passable results for a fuller/longer head of hair. The more permanent and quality solution is hair extensions which allow you to wake up with your full head of hair already in place. This is why celebrities turn to hair extensions themselves. They understand that hair extensions are extremely versatile. You have the choice of many styles and can easily wear your hair as is when you wake up or style it in countless ways.

There are many benefits of hair extensions. What can hair extensions do for you? Extensions can be an easy way to have fun and add glamour. Hair extensions are also an easy, risk-free way to play around with changing your color. You can choose to spend a lot or a little depending on the look you want and the fullness and length of your natural hair and allow you to get the kind of hair you’ve always dreamed of.

Acceptance Of Hair Extensions Grows

by Melissa White
Licensed Hair Stylist

I'm always "in the news", catching everything I can on hair styling, hair coloring, and of course, hair extensions. It's important to me to keep as up-to-date as possible for the women I see at my salon. Most of what I read is a rehash of old stories. Every once in awhile you come across something that is a unique perspective or something truly useful. This is my goal in writing my blog specifically for people who have or want to have hair extensions.

I've seen the trends in hair extensions grow far beyond the Hollywood jet set and into more mainstream America as more than just ethnic women (who have been using forms of extensions for decades) and the very elite have found the benefits of hair extensions. On my website, I've discussed my own experiences with hair extensions of every conceivable kind, and it truly has been an evolution not only in the quality of hair used and the assortment of attachment methods available today, but also with who is using them.

Just as women were once petrified to admit to plastic surgery (and look at how common this is today), they once were also afraid of what others would think if they admitted to using hair extensions. It seems as if the social stigma has faded, and more and more women across the country are seeing that they are able to enjoy long beautiful hair that can be styled and worn in thousands of different ways.

Today, I read a story that generated out of Pennsylvania. The focus of the article was on hair extensions, proving to me that the acceptability of hair extensions is certainly strong when salons in America's mid-Atlantic region are seeing 40% growth in women requesting quality hair extensions!

One stylist interviewed in the article stated that, "This is very individual, not a one-size-fits-all, so it depends on the person's (natural) hair and what the client is looking for." She continues, "There's a certain level of commitment the client must make for the cost, the initial appointment and the maintenance. But those who do it are very pleased and look fabulous. It can make a dramatic difference in how a woman looks and feels about herself and that's worth a million dollars."

I can't agree with her more on her last statement. I've seen so many clients come to me who were just generally "feeling down" about their hair and their looks, were going through personal hardships which left them depleted of energy and "the zest for life", or who were rebounding from physical illness and needed a good boost. The transformations that can occur with women who get quality hair extensions is sometimes amazing, not only in physical appearance, but in the woman herself. The confidence, spirit and happiness that comes with feeling better about yourself is a wonderful thing to see happen before your eyes. It's the part of what I do which is so rewarding.
