With the Fall season comes cooler weather and a chance to really enjoy having long, beautiful hair! It is also a time for a possible change in products, as with cooler temperatures come different styling problems, static issues and the need for air drying our hair so we don't feel the chilling effects of the cold.
I'm particularly excited about Brazilian Blowout's newest product designed to effectively eliminate and control split ends. The new product will be available starting next week in my San Antonio salon, and I'll be booking appointments on a first-come first-serve basis. I already have more calls coming in with women wanting a bit of extra length in their hair extensions now that the summer heat is beginning to fade. I expect that this San Antonio hair extensions trend will continue to grow as the extreme heat we've experienced in Texas this year finally subsides.
I'll be bringing news of the latest Fall trends in the upcoming weeks so I hope you stay tuned!
San Antonio's leading hair extension studio brings you the latest news and information about human hair extensions. Tips on hair care, products, color, hair styles, celebrity hair, top trends and industry news about hair extensions from around the world. Extensions of Yourself is San Antonio's first salon to specialize exclusively in hair extensions.

You already know if you have a problem with split ends because you probably can't help but to pick at them. It's an addicting check to see how bad they've become, and until now, a problem with no real effective remedies other than to cut them off.
As I wrote in my April 2012 article on split ends, "The damage to your hair will come when you tear away at the split ends. Pulling them apart actually makes the problem much worse. Instead of having small splits, you may end up with long lengths of hair that has been thinned by pulling the split apart. This thinned out hair shaft is more apt to tangle. It may also break off entirely, leaving you with shorter hair that is more prone to even more splits. Remember, any type of 'break' is not 'clean' or blunt, like a cut with scissors. Some people acquire hair so damaged that a single hair shaft may have multiple splits on it."
The new Professional Split End Repairing Treatment is an effective solution and is now available in San Antonio at Extensions of Yourself specialty salon in Stone Oak. Set the trend - repair your split ends and enjoy beautiful, healthy looking hair!

Tips For Creating And Maintaining Trendy Straight Hair Styles
by Melissa L. White
Licensed Hair Stylist
Certified Hair Extension Artist
For those who don't have naturally straight hair, recent trends of sleek, polished, straight hairstyles leave an them feeling cheated and envious of those who do. You know - the grass always looks greener on the other side - and as much as we know that women with straight hair look jealously at those who have gloriously curly hair that's full of body and bounce, it's hard not to feel slighted.
I know that try as you might, it can be extremely difficult to maintain the look of super straight long hair despite the hours of elaborate steps you take. In San Antonio straight hair can be extremely difficult because of the heat and humidity. But, the job can be simplified if you follow just a few basic steps I've outlined below. Of course, these are general rules of thumb that will need to be tweeked for your hair type, length and condition of hair.
Your stylist can recommend products that are most appropriate for your hair if you explain the look you're shooting for. Remember, products that work well for a full head of beachy waves won't work well for the long straight hair look, so it will require an additional investment in more products. Knowing this in advance, and spending your money on the right products will end up saving you money in the long run. I've known many women who've spent much more than needed because they've had to try so many different products that didn't work well. One of the products I like for just about any type of hair is the Acai Brazilian Dry Oil by Brazilian Blowout. It nourishes and reconditions as it leaves beautiful smooth hair.
The other consideration for the long straight hair style is to take the time to practice. Don't expect to master the look in a single attempt. It's not wise to attempt the look for the first time when getting ready for a big important event. Practice until you feel comfortable with your blowout technique, using a large round hairbrush and drying in small sections until the hair is completely dry in order to get your hair smooth. A tip not to overlook: take the time to keep your hairbrushes clean. This is important when trying to create a smooth, silky-smooth look.
Then, practice more with your flat iron. If you've got thin hair, you might not want to go all the way up to the root, but if your hair is kinky, you may need to. Use the fewest number of passes on each section. It's better to keep your sections small so fewer passes of the flat iron are used. This will help prevent damage to your hair. And, use the heat setting appropriate for your type of hair. You don't want to use the high settings unless your hair is very thick or course. Start low and slowly work your way up in heat until you find the setting that works in just a few passes.
One of the things that is often overlooked is what you do with your hair at the end of the day, after you've washed your face, applied your skin care products and are getting ready to retire for the evening. I'm used to providing my San Antonio hair extension clients with instructions on home care techniques for maintaining their hair extensions, and I've personally tried dozens of methods I've heard about over the years. While braiding and buns may work for hair extensions that may be curled, it won't work well if you're going for the stick straight look.
One method I've heard about is one that my grandmother actually used in her days. Women back in the days of the beehive hair-do used variations of this method. It's simple and it works. Remember hearing of satin hair bonnets? We've all heard that satin pillowcases are the best for maintaining beautiful skin, because the satin doesn't create wrinkles like cotton pillowcases. Back in the 1920's through 1950's, silk and satin bedding was extremely popular for this reason. And, they're great for hair because they don't cause kinks, wrinkles or tangles. So what do you do with your hair?
It's fairly simple once you do it a few times. Simply wrap your hair around your head using a good smoothing brush. Use a few bobby pins to keep the wrap in place as you work your way around your head. Cover your hair in a good satin scarf or a satin head wrap (look in specialty stores for wraps that velcro close). The wraps are easy and comfortable to sleep in and in the morning your hair just needs to be let down and brushed out. Apply a bit of smoothing product if needed and you're set for the day! Many women who use this technique can go days between shampoos which is great for your hair.

- Buy a quality blow dryer
- Use your flat iron at the right temperature
- Practice, practice, practice
- Learn the "art" of wrapping your hair at night
- Use products that will help hold your straight look
- Keep your hairbrushes clean
Straight hair actually catches light and reflects it more than wavy or curly hair, which can often make straight hair look healthier, shinier and longer! The beauty of wearing straight hair is it's ability to transform your entire look quickly and easily. The challenge then becomes how to keep that look going all day, despite conditions that tend to make our hair "pop" back into frizz and curls.

Beautiful Straight Hair |
The best way to ensure that you're using the right hair products is to talk over your routine with your hair stylist. Go beyond just a quality shampoo and conditioner, and consider the products that you'll need before and after your blowdry and flat iron styling. First, you want the right product that will help protect your hair from the drying effects of drying and styling your hair. Then you want to maintain the look you've created, you'll definitely need the right type of products that will help it last all day.

Brazilian Blowout WOWS With Full Compliment of Great Hair Care Products
by Melissa L. White

It's not very often that you find a manufacturer of a best selling product that follows through with a wide range of products that fully support that product. Brazilian Blowout has proven itself to be an exception, gaining recognition for the line of specialized hair care products that compliment and accentuate the Brazilian Blowout hair treatment.
Now, the Acai Brazilian Dry Oil is making a splash with it's hair-smoothing dry oil. It made headlines on Daily Candy, and women trying the product are impressed with the products ability to leave hair silky, shiny and smooth following blow drying. It is non-greasy yet has all the nutrients to keep your hair healthy between your Brailian Blowout treatments. That's because it is actually a reconstructive formula that strengthens and enriches your hair. It's great for damaged hair needing nourishment and TLC, something I see a lot in my San Antonio specialty salon.
"I use a small dot of the dry oil before I blow dry my hair and it leaves my hair so silky and smooth it's like I just got a freshen-up of my blowout. I don't get fly-aways when I wear my hair up, and no tangles when I wear it down," exclaimed Anna, a client I recently recommended the Acai dry oil to following a vacation in the sun that left her hair feeling dry.
Although it's important to use the right product for your particular hair type, it can be confusing to know which to choose. I recommend talking to a certified Brazilian Blowout stylist who is familiar with the range of products now being offered by the company that made "Brazilian Blowout" a household name and a sought after hair care service in San Antonio and across the country.

The Brazilian Blowout received a great deal of recognition for it's Volume aftercare products designed for those who want fullness and volume with their Brazilian Blowout, and don't want to be limited to stick-straight hair. The product line it developed has steadily gained popularity among big stars in Hollywood, and is being used by more and more women across the country since it's recent release.

Give A Valentine's Day Gift of Beautiful, Smooth Hair AND Save 10%!
by Melissa L. White
Licensed Hair Stylist
Certified Hair Extension Artist
Certified Brazilian Blowout Stylist
I've received calls at my salon from husbands or boyfriends of my hair extension clients at this time of year because Valentine's Day is right around the corner. They usually start out with, "My girlfriend loves her hair extensions and I want to give her something nice, but I have no idea what," or something similar. So, what can you give to someone who seemingly "has it all" and already has hair extensions?
My favorite response is Brazilian Blowout! Women with or without extensions just love this procedure, as it leaves them with smooth, silky, manageable hair. Most women find that their hair dries in a fraction of the time, and without the fluff, frizz and unruliness which is typical when hair dries naturally or, worse (since many women haven't mastered the art of blow drying), hair blown dry at home.
Simply put, the Brazilian Blowout is the most innovative and effective professional hair smoothing treatments. It improves the condition of your hair by creating a protective protein layer around the hair shaft which can smooth the cuticle of your hair and eliminate frizz. The end result is smooth, healthy looking hair with beautiful shine!
And, it happens that the Brazilian Blowout works great with hair extensions. It gives your hair the polished, silky look you want. Many of my clients notice that it helps their hair extensions blend beautifully with their own natural hair. The added benefit is that it can help lay a layer of protection for hair extensions. I find that my clients who add Brazilian Blowout to their tidy-up visits enjoy their extensions longer than those that have not had the treatment.
Getting the Brazilian Blowout does not mean that you're stuck with stick straight hair! While you can certainly get one of the smoothest, straightest looks you've ever had, you can style with a curling iron, hot rollers, curlers, or other methods to produce waves, curls and body that is frizz-free and manageable. .
Discover why the Brazilian Blowout makes the perfect Valentine's Day gift! It will be appreciated by someone you care about. Mention this article and receive 10% off the Brazilian Blowout treatment with purchase by 02-21-13!

Cold Weather and Extremes in Temperature Can Affect Hair Health
by Melissa L. White
Licensed Hair Stylist
Certified Hair Extension Artist
Certified Brazilian Blowout Stylist
This past summer, I wrote on how hot weather can affect the behavior and health of your hair, but did you know that extreme cold affects your hair as well? Last summer unleashed extreme heat over much of the country, and just this week, much of the Northern states have been socked with cold temperatures that have not been seen in several years.
Right now there is a major Arctic cold front making it's way across the upper states and into New England. Having lived in New England much of my early life, I got used to half a year or more of cold temperatures. It was "normal", and you found ways to deal with it. Now, having lived in Texas for the past eight or nine years, I have much more difficulty dealing with cold. And, I notice that my hair does too!
Chilly weather can wreak havoc on even the healthiest hair and skin and is especially damaging when there is wind with the cold. Winter air brings dryness. We all know that it can suck the moisture out of our skin and lips, but many women overlook that it can be extremely drying to our hair as well. It can actually zap nutrients from your hair, giving you dry, brittle hair - even for those who wear hair extensions. If your hair becomes dry enough, you might find yourself with a bad case of dandruff. Add to this wearing hats, scarves, earmuffs, turtlenecks and other things that interfere with our hair and our hair styles, and you've got a recipe for disaster! Think static - that especially troublesome winter standby. It can hit unexpectedly, be persistent, and can ruin your "look" in an instant.
There are steps you can take to minimize cold's effects on your hair. Try these basics:
We've all heard the saying, "Don't go out with wet hair or you'll catch your death of cold," but there's much more to it than the risk of developing a sneeze. Cold dry air actually pulls moisture out of your hair! Completely drying your hair will help keep hair manageable and less prone to static, frizz and dryness. Remember how your lips become much more dry and chapped when you spend time licking them to keep them moisturized? Your hair also becomes more dried out and brittle in the cold. It's best to dry your hair once, thoroughly, then style it with protective products that will help seal the moisture in, and the cold out. Avoid glycerin products and heavy gels and opt for products better suited for cold weather.
After you've styled your hair, leave your hair alone! Wearing your hair up, or in a style where you won't spend time touching it or running your fingers through it will help minimize the stress to your hair. You'll notice less dryness, less shedding, less split-ends and less static if you can keep your hands away from your hair. We're lucky that buns are very popular this season, and braids, ponytails and any type of up-do is perfectly acceptable and fashionable.
Keeping your hair hydrated doesn't mean keeping it wet. Although there are a few hydrating sprays which deliver a thin film of moisturizing conditioners, some can weigh down your hair. It's best to try to go a little longer between shampoos. A good dry shampoo can get you through an extra day or two during cold snaps. Remember to comb through your hair each night to distribute natural oils from your scalp down the entire hair shaft. This is great in helping to prevent static, just don't be walking across a rug when you do it!
Conditioners and treatments can be tricky. Not everyone is blessed with "perfect" hair, and products you purchase in the store aren't always formulated well for your specific hair, which can leave you with a sticky mess or limp locks that you can't do anything with! I recommend you seek advice from your professional stylist who knows your hair. He/she can suggest products that you can use at home that will actually deliver protection and style. It's worth the effort and expense.
Consider the Brazilian Blowout, which can help to seal your hair cuticle, minimize static, as well as smooth your hair. Women who use the Brazilian Blowout seem to have an easier time with winter cold weather. Their hair dries faster, requires less product and styles easily. Their new Volume aftercare products allow you to wear "big" hair styles with control.
If you wear hair extensions, you'll want to have a talk with your stylist. Let them know if you see an increase in split-ends on your extensions, or if your hair has become excessively dry or brittle. Quality hair extensions should not "stress" any faster than normal healthy hair. Hair selected for the best brand hair extensions tends to be high quality hair, and should remain in good shape through the season. That said, you still want to take preventive steps to ensure that your investment stays looking great. Your stylist can recommend products to use during the cold season that will work great for you and help your hair extensions last.

Cold Dry Air Is Hard On Hair! |
- Dry your hair thoroughly before you leave the house
- Wear low maintenance styles including up-do's, braids, buns or ponytails
- Keep hair hydrated
- Deep condition your hair - ask your stylist for one that best for you
- Splurge on a hot oil treatment once a month at your salon
- Try the Brazilian Blowout
Consider the Brazilian Blowout, which can help to seal your hair cuticle, minimize static, as well as smooth your hair. Women who use the Brazilian Blowout seem to have an easier time with winter cold weather. Their hair dries faster, requires less product and styles easily. Their new Volume aftercare products allow you to wear "big" hair styles with control.

Popularity of Brazilian Blowout Soars As More Celebrities Show Off Amazing Hair

The Brazilian Blowout, once making steady progress into hair salons in Hollywood and slowly slipping into progressive salons across the country, is now breaking into the mainstream at remarkable speed.
Just two days ago, I reported on stories that predict that the Brazilian Blowout will be a huge fashion statement this Spring. Celebrities have been making use of the fantastic hair smoothing qualities for some time. Now, fashion models on top runways are displaying hairstyles emphasizing looks that are achieved with use of the Brazilian Blowout and it's making an impact.
More and more people, both in and out of the fashion industry, are talking about the Brazilian Blowout and creating quite a buzz. So much so that Brazilian Blowout has launched a new product line, Brazilian Blowout Volume, which are aftercare products designed for those who want to maintain their Brazilian Blowout smoothness with body-boosting volume!
My own clients are excited about what the new Volume products do for their hair, especially when they're looking for body and fullness in their hairstyles. I have a lot of clients who have thin, fine hair. While the Brazilian Blowout does a great job in keeping the hair smooth and frizz-free, many want to be able to wear styles that have fullness and volume. That's one of the reasons they come to me for quality hair extensions. I have several clients who are currently using the new Volume products and they're reporting that these aftercare products are giving them volume and allowing them to wear styles they previously had difficulty with. I'm happy that Brazilian Blowout has stepped up and addressed the needs of those who want body and fullness along with manageability.
Today's headlines reveal that Brazilian Blowout Volume aftercare products will be featured on tonight's edition of Extra hosted by Maria Menuonos. Britney Huinker, Brazilian Blowout President, will talk with Maria about the celebrities who are loving the new product line. It is reported that stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Ashley Greene are hooked on Brazilian Blowout's Volume product line.

Sleek, Smooth and Polished Hair Predicted As HOT Fashion For Spring 2013
by Melissa L. White

Fashion experts are predicting that this spring will reveal hair styles that are long, shiny, sleek and straight. Luckily there are options for those who were not born with this type of hair naturally. Fashion runways are going wild with the look when debuting this year's Spring fashions.
Brazilian Blowout has been steadily gaining ground as the method of choice for achieving smooth, sleek hair without frizz and fluff that often accompanies hair dried with blowers. It is not a hair straightener, but rather a smoother.
I've found that Brazilian Blowout works great with hair extensions. It not only gives the hair the polished, silky look you crave, it also helps the extensions blend beautifully with your own natural hair. The added benefit is that it can help lay a layer of protection for your new extensions as well. I find that my clients who add Brazilian Blowout to their quality hair extension regimine enjoy their extensions longer than those that have not.
Contrary to what many believe, having the Brazilian Blowout does not mean that you can only wear your hair stick straight! While it is possible to achieve one of the smoothest, straightest looks you'll see, your hair can still be styled with a curling iron, hot rollers, curlers, etc. to produce waves and/or curls that are free from frizz and unruliness. All this in a fraction of the time.
The Brazilian Blowout is the most innovative and effective professional smoothing treatment in the world! The Brazilian Blowout actually improves the condition of the hair by creating a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle. The end result is smooth, healthy, frizz-free hair with radiant shine!
Find out what the Brazilian Blowout can do for your hair! Those who try it usually say, "I don't know why I waited so long!" Once you see what it will do for your hair, you'll never want to do without.
