Hair extensions continue their popularity, as is evidenced by the continued rash of thefts at beauty supply stores that sell to the stylists who install them. The latest theft being reported in Sacramento takes an odd turn as thief flees with hair and leaves her ID behind!

Even though the numbers of occurrences seem to have slowed, the newest reports of hair extension thefts are revealing staggering dollars and even death!

- Houston hair heist worth $150,000 in hair extensions
- Beauty businesses in Atlanta lose $100,000 in burglaries
- Chicago supply company has $90,000 in extensions stolen
- Kicking down doors in San Leandro nets organized thieves $60,000 worth of hair
- Michigan shop owner killed over 80 bundles of hair extensions worth just $10,000

Thieves don't seem to go after the cheap hair extensions you find in the local beauty supply stores that sell to the public. They're going after the salons and businesses that carry the higher end hair extensions that are in the most demand. Reports are that thieves often go right past cash registers to get to their targeted items.
